Unquestionably one of the year’s very best films, The King’s Speech is a rare combination of masterful acting, dynamic writing and sumptuous direction, making a film likely to be touted superficially as “Oscar bait” in fact something much more; a legitimate awards contender on its own merits that may win Colin Firth the Best Actor Oscar he deserved last year.
